Studies show that quality early-child care builds the foundation of a child’s success later in life—even through adulthood. The non-profit organization BY5 works on the local, state, and national levels to implement the highest-quality early childhood initiatives, programs, and opportunities for local families.
Our community has more than 24 childcare providers ranked as Paths to QUALITY Level 3 or Level 4 care centers. Many offer daycare, preschool, and before-and-after-school care options. Search for high-quality providers here.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS
In 2018, a first-of-its-kind partnership was established between Muncie Community Schools and Ball State University to implement an innovative, community-based, public education model that supports all types of learners, from cradle to career. Two local high schools—Burris Laboratory School and the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities—rank as two of Indiana’s 10 Best High Schools by U.S. News and World Report. Student-teacher ratios are favorable at every stage, ensuring that our young people get the attention and quality instruction they need.

Ball State University – Public university with 150 undergraduate, 80 masters, 20 doctoral, and 14 specialist degree programs, including on-campus and online options.
Indiana University School of Medicine – IU School of Medicine-Muncie is the school’s only statewide campus that’s located on hospital property, giving medical students—as well as residents and faculty—convenient access to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
